Style: Kashan Rugs And Antique Persian Kashan Carpets

Kashan rugs come from the city of Kashan in central Iran. Weavers in this region developed a long-standing tradition known for precision, balance, and durability.

Artisans hand-knot Kashan rugs using detailed floral patterns. Many designs feature a central medallion. Others use repeating garden motifs. Common elements include palmettes, vine scrolls, and Shah Abbas–inspired florals. These patterns create a calm and structured layout.

Weavers typically use fine kork wool on a cotton foundation. Some rugs include small silk highlights for detail. Natural dyes produce classic colors such as navy blue, soft red, ivory, and earth tones. Dense knotting keeps the designs clear over time.

Kashan became an important weaving center during the Safavid period. Production continued through the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Rugs from these periods often fall into antique or early vintage categories.

Today, Kashan rugs suit many interiors. Their structured patterns work well in both traditional and modern spaces. Many buyers choose them for long-term use and visual balance.
